This is a recipe for chana masala, a vegan indian dish
Chana Masala is a chickpea gravy originating from north India, where it is eaten very often. This recipe is fully vegan, very rich in protein, and cheap.
For this recipe i use chickpeas from a can, which come presoaked. I also use the liquid from the can for water. You can also use dried chickpeas and soak them overnight.
1: Start by toasting the spices on high heat until they're fragrant.
2: Then add some oil to your pot and add your chickpeas, tomato puree, and either water or the soaking liquid from the chickpeas and stir until all is mixed
3: Let that simmer for 20 - 30 minutes, stiring occasionally, until the sauce is thickened.
4: Now it is ready for serving
This dish is perfectly served with rice. I usually use jasmine rice, but basmati rice would be more traditional. Although any rice goes.
